Occasion: Graduate Student Colloquium
Place: Tulane University
Abstract
One of the goals of this example-driven talk is to explore a selection of tools from experimental mathematics hiding behind acronyms such as PSLQ, OEIS, CAD or WZ. The focus will be on how these tools can be used by anyone who is interested, for instance, in identifying numbers, sequences or functions. Some of the examples will come from the theories of short random walks, binomial congruences and positivity of rational functions. The talk may contain blunt advertisement of modular forms.Download
